Meet Our Founder

Hi, I'm Gwenette Monroe, founder of Inspired Learning Academy, a microschool located in Stafford, Virginia. Owning my own business has been an incredible and fulfilling journey, driven by a lifelong passion for education and service.

My path began early—at just 12 years old, I organized and played piano for a children's choir, discovering the joy of leadership and creativity. In 1996, I found my true calling while working as an instructional aide, where I helped young students learn to read by tailoring lessons to their unique needs. These early experiences ignited my desire to build something meaningful in education.

I have over 15 years of experience teaching children of all ages. Most of my teaching experience comes from working with Caroline County Public Schools, Fredericksburg City Public Schools, and The Oberle Academy. I am currently pursuing an endorsement in Special Education to further support the diverse needs of learners.

In 2015, I opened Monroe Tutoring Center, LLC in Fredericksburg with the goal of supporting children and adults in reading, writing, math, and test-taking skills. Since then, I’ve helped over 500 individuals gain confidence, improve their academic abilities, and— for many—pursue college and career goals. I continue to own and operate the center alongside my work at Inspired Learning Academy.

To bring my educational vision to life, I earned master’s degrees in both Business Administration and Education—equipping me with the tools to found schools and programs that go beyond the limitations of traditional models. Inspired Learning Academy is the result: a project-based microschool focused on nurturing the whole child, partnering with families, and fostering a love of learning in every student.

Some key milestones from my journey:

• Organized a children’s choir and served as its pianist at age 12

I’m filled with excitement as I continue this journey—supporting students, empowering families, and growing Inspired Learning Academy into a space where every child can thrive.
